Family Adventure Session Artists Point - Seattle Family Photography

It is UNBELIEVABLE how big and beautiful these twins are. So vibrant and full of life, and they have the coolest parents. I have been so lucky, I started documenting this family story at the very beginning, when these twins were in mamma’s belly.

If you make it to the end I will include this family’s struggle on getting pregnant in the first place, and how they almost gave up. Look at them now.

This family and I have a yearly tradition, we do a mini session at Lincoln Park. This year the twins seemed big enough to enjoy this big mountain experience, and we changed it up.

Getting here is a trek, a little over 3 hours from Seattle. These guys have a famiy cabin at Mt. Baker, SCORE. So they made a weekend of it. If you stay until the end of this blog, you will see a few hikes, suggestions to stay, what to wear ideas, a video from this shoot, and my pricing. Also, this mamma and I decided to change it up at the end for a few minutes after the sun disappeared behind the mountains. Stay tuned!

There are few restaurants and on e small place to get groceries, but lots of cabins to rent in Glacier or nearby towns. Glacier being the closest, about a 40 minute drive to Artists Point. And a beautiful drive at that.

I would bring lots of food and prepare to hike or relax for the weekend, maybe a cabin with a hot tub?

The best time to shoot up here is Sunset and the best months are July-October. I like the idea of September with the fall colors and the sunset is not so late. We did this shoot in October and it worked out weather wise. As we get closer to November, the weather starts to get a little more dicey.

I am down for the summer sessions here, with the weather being a bit less dicey and maybe more on our side. Keep in mind sunset can be late for the little ones during that time. Keep snacks in the car for the 40 minutes home, or maybe they will sleep.

The tricky part is this mountain makes it’s own weather. I made myself crazy checking Glacier’s weather report. If the day of the shoot comes and we see partial chance of rain, the best thing to do is to stay flexible on time. The area you see in all of these photos is about a 10 minute walk from the parking lot. THAT is the easy part. When you start the walk, you are immediately swept away by the 360 views. Mount Shuksan and Mt. Baker each way you look. It is unreal.

Family Photo tips of the day!

  • Candid real moments: Encourage your family to interact naturally with each other during the photo shoot. Genuine emotions and interactions often make for the most heartwarming and memorable shots. Leading up to the shoot, make sure to talk about how fun it’s going to be. Make sure dad knows this too:) Call it an adventure!

  • I aim to capture personalities and connection: Let each family member's personality shine through. If you have young children, incorporate games or activities to keep them engaged and bring out their true selves. Cuddle, play!

  • Stay relaxed: It's normal to feel a bit nervous in front of the camera, but try to stay relaxed and enjoy the experience. A skilled photographer(hopefully me) will help create a comfortable atmosphere, so trust their guidance and direction. And I am full of guidance!

  • MOUNTAIN SHOOT WHAT TO WEAR AMAZON SUGGESTION LIST

  • Emily is wearing a dress from Joyfolie, so many cute affordable options! Also this site too! BALTIC BORN

  • I love natural colors that go well in nature. In this shoot for this blog, we brought sweaters for Bekket(little boy) and he was not having it. So make sure to bring a tee back up that matches the backdrop. We ended up turning his t-shirt around backwards in effort to avoid the logo. So bring options especially for the picky ones! Also this little girl got warm too and ended up wearing her favorite leotard most of the time. It worked!

“I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories... water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom.”
