Mother Daughter Music Photo Session- Whidbey Island Photographer

This shoot is very near and dear to my heart. This talented woman and I do a shoot every year, to capture the magic of her music with still images. We planned on shooting on Whidbey Island, one of my favorite places.

Originally the shoot was just suppose to be of Ailisa for her music. Before the day came, she told me that her daughter would be joining before the shoot, and that she would just read while we made photos. I protested and said-bring her a dress! It was a weekday and dad couldn’t join, but capturing that mother daughter connection is still so important.

I asked Alisa to tell me a little bit about her and her music.

“There is a video of me trying to strum my dad’s guitar when I was about 9 months old, so you could say that’s when I started playing. I actually was a pianist for most of my childhood. I ended up with piano and voice performance degrees from WWU, a performance certificate from a music conservatory in France, and a music education degree from UW. I sang classically for years until I decided to start writing songs and getting back to my roots with folk music. I had a song “The South Wind” reach #7 on the Folk DJ chart last February and I just released a Christmas song - my version of "The Holly and the Ivy" that you can listen to here: https://www.ailisanewhall.com/new-index

The most significant award recently -is that I am a finalist for the 2023 Grammy for music education. What I am excited about is starting up some really cool community music programs at Kirkland Performance Center - songwriting classes, jam sessions, and a community choir.” http://www.kpcenter.org/class

Kamea was reading Keeper of the Lost Cities - her favorite series at the moment. In fact, we flew to California to meet the author and celebrate the release of book 9 in the KOTLC series!

A mother-daughter photoshoot can be a wonderful way to capture and celebrate the special bond between a mother and daughter. Here are some reasons why.

  1. Capturing memories: A mother-daughter photoshoot can capture special moments between a mother and daughter, creating lasting memories that can be cherished for years to come.

  2. Celebrating the bond: The bond between a mother and daughter is unique and special, and a photoshoot can be a beautiful way to celebrate this relationship and the love that they share.

  3. Strengthening the bond: Taking time to do something special together, like a photoshoot, can help strengthen the bond between a mother and daughter by creating positive shared experiences.

  4. Boosting self-esteem: A photoshoot can be a fun and empowering experience for both the mother and daughter, and can help boost their self-esteem and confidence.

  5. Documenting growth and change: A mother-daughter photoshoot can be a great way to document the growth and changes that occur in both of their lives over time, from childhood to adulthood and beyond.

Peace out my friends!
